Laura Matthews

Laura Matthews is a certified Alexander Technique teacher with a practice in Lakeview, Chicago. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at Elmhurst College where she teaches the Alexander Technique and acting. In addition, Laura is a theatre teaching artist in Chicago affiliated with Emerald City Theatre and American Theatre Company, working with performers of all ages. 

She is a member of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). She trained under senior teacher, Daria Okugawa at the ATTiC (Alexander Technique Training in Chicago), a three-year 1600-hours teacher training program. She has enjoyed a role as a teaching assistant in the Alexander Technique classes at Roosevelt University and The School for Theatre Creators. 

Laura holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Theatre and Interdisciplinary Communication Studies from Elmhurst College, and continues her work as a performer in the Chicago area.
